My impression about the book

You should read "The Australian Connection" because it is a litte and nice story which is not difficult to understand. Of course there are some words I didnt know but now I learnt them.
If you're interessted in books with adventures and some romance this is the right book. For other purpils it could be a little bit bouring because the auther wrote it in another way than other authers. Although if he wrote the mounth when Alex was in Australia with much of information, I sometimes missed details.
In my opinion you have nothing to lose when you read the book. So have fun with "The Australian Connection".

Mini Saga of chapter nine and ten

first: A Mini Saga is a short summary with exacly 50 words.

I chapter nine/ ten the band looses success. A reason for that is that Joe and Pete drink a lot and become racists. The band seperates and Dani moves with Alex to England. There they found a new band named "The Dolphins" and Alex sees Tom as a friend now.

Chapter Eight: Up to the top...

task: Read chapter 8. Which situation was most exciting or interesting? Give your opinion in about 3-5 sentences (ONLY). Then invite your blog team members (BTM) to give their opinion. You should go to all your BTM to say what you think about their findings.

my BTM => Helin, Marie B., Julia B., Kim, Sophie

For me is the most interessting situiation on page 48, line 23 to 29, because there are the first austere thoughts of Alex disagreeing with Dani. I think it's not only about their different thoughts. Alex thinks ample (weitläufig) and probably he doesn't feel so good anymore concerning to travel with the band and have the hidden agenda (Hintergedanke) to be unsure if they stay a long time in the top ten.
To my BTM: Do you agree? What's your opinion?

Chapter Seven: Father and son

After reading chapter 7:
1. Comment on the following quote: "And, of course, Alex understood only too well." (p.43, l.33)
2. Write a different ending of the chapter: "That night, when Alex had gone to sleep, TOM picked up his diary and began writing." (compare p.43, l.34f)

1. I can imagine how Alex feels. In this chapter Alex really became acquainted with Tom. And that sentence shows, that he began to understand his father, for example why he left and didn't contact. him. I think that Alex too don't want to grow up so fast.

2. Friday, 8 February
Today was a great day. Alex is a wonderful boy and I really like him. I'm so sorry that I ... left him. That was a big mistake.
I hope he understands me. I will try to give my best. I will be there for him, whenever he has a problem. Maybe I cannot be a very good father, but I can be a good friend for him.

Chapter Six - pictures

Chapter Six: Into the rain forest

I haven't except that Tom wantet to excuse himself. That was wrong and I think it was not okay to do something like that. No father would think, that his child don't want to know him.
The conversation was as like as I imagined, expect that Alex got himself under control and that Tom said, that he was sorry. But I believe Tom, that he was REALLY sorry.
In my opinion the trip of Tom and Alex to Queensland was a good idea of Tom, because so they could talk a lot and they could get to know.

"before reading chapter six"

If you ask me, Alex will be very silence in his first conversation with his father. He won't know what to say or do. Maybe he will tell Tom something about his life in England, about his hobbys, his old school and his friends. But on the other side both will be differentiated of each other for the first time. I can imagine, that Tom will learn many things about his son, which he had never seen for 16 years.
Maybe they could have a disagreement where Alex is at fault, for example he can accuse Tom, that he never had contact him. I think it won't be easy for both. His father will have feelings of guilt and Alex is disappointet of his father.

Chapter Five: The face in the crowd

1. What is your opinion about Alex's reaction, when he saw his father for the first time?
Would you act like him if you were in the same situiation?

2. Do you agree with Joe, don't to tell the police, that they hit the cow?
What would you do?

3. Did you except that Alex's father would be on the concert? Why?

Chapter Four: The big decision

task: Dani and Alex have their first disagreement.
Why?
What is it about?
What's your opinion about it?

Dani and Alex had their first disagreement about the penguins in Melbourne. They had diffrent opinions. To Alex it seemed wrong that the bird's daily fishing trip had became a piece of theatre, so he didn't agree with Dani.
My opinion is, that that wasn't a big or serius disagreement. But it satisfyed to spoil the atmophere how the author said on page 24, line 12.
I think Alex only wanted to say his opinion. He didn't want to have a disagreement with Dani.
But I would agree with Alex, because he is right with his mind.

Chapter Three: The island and the mountain

task: 1.Describe what happens on top of St. Mary's Peak. 2. Why does Alex think "Let him see how he likes it"? Who is he? What will he like or not?

1. On top of St. Mary's Peak Alex and Kevin talk about Tom. Alex is very surprised about his fathers life and he is also sad, that his father never hat noticed, that Alex exist.
After their conversation it begins so rain and they have to go back.

2. I think with he, Alex means his father and he would like to know how his father is.

Chapter Two: Hello Australia

task: What do you think of Alex first 66 hours in Oz?

When Alex arrived at the airport he was very surprised that his father wasn't there. And he was shocked that Tom was in London not the first time and never had visit him. First Alex was very sad about that, but Tom's wife and their chidren helped him to forget it.
It was a nice day for him. He was swimming and he knew Dani Klavans, the neighbour of Tom's family. I think he is very impressed of her and he likes her very much.
And he is also excited to play the bass guitar in Dani's band "The Beat Crew".

Chapter One: The trip of a lifetime

I think the first chapter is a good and short introduction.
When I read it, I knew at once very much about Alex and his life. He is an 18-year-old boy, who wants to visit his father, which he has not seen for 16 years, in Australia.
I think, that Alex is looking forward to meet his father, but at the other side he is very exited, because he doesn't know how he has to act by his father.
I think he made a good decission, becouse some children have to see both of their parents to feel themselves loved and saved. And Alex had never known his father, so it's a great expirience for him. It is also good, because he is goining to fly to Australia, a very nice continent.
I'm strechtched how the story will go on.
